Westchester-Liberty Trail (2.0 miles of shared use path)
The Westchester-Liberty Trail is a regional trail that will connect the Prairie Duneland Trail to the Dunes Kankakee Trail. Phase 1 constructed the trail from Dogwood Park to the Rose Hill Subdivision along CR 1100N. Phase 2 constructed the trail from the Rose Hill Subdivision to the Chesterton High School and then continued along CR 1100N to the Boys and Girls Club at the corner of CR 1100N and 5th Street. Phase 3 is being planned and will continue the trail along CR 1100N to park owned land in the Tamarack Subdivision. The trail will then continue through the subdivision over to CR 100E and connect to the existing 8’ wide multi-use trail that goes to Coffee Creek Conservancy.
