Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Compliance
for Developers, Builders, and Contractors
For new construction projects with land disturbance over one acre, a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) must be completed and approved by the Storm Water MS4 Operator.
All projects requiring a SWPPP must also obtain an Erosion and Sediment Control permit.
An information packet provided to applicants contains all of the necessary permit applications and compliance-related forms for each project. The MS4 Operator is available to answer any questions you may have regarding this process at 219-926-1032.
For information on erosion and sediment control best management practice (BMPs) approved by the Town of Chesterton refer to the Storm Water Management Practices Technical Manual available on CD for $5.00 at Town Hall, located at 726 Broadway (the corner of 8th Street and Broadway).
