The Chesterton Fire Department was established in April 1902 and provides full time fire and emergency response from the station located at 702 Broadway.
The department currently has 15 full time personnel that staff an engine 24/7/365, as well as a full time fire chief and Division Chief of Training.
The department also utilizes a staff of 15 volunteer personnel who respond to calls for assistance.
