Show Your Support for Thomas Centennial Park Restrooms

Restrooms are finally coming to our historic downtown park! Turning a train boxcar and caboose into much needed public amenities!

You're probably one of the thousands of people that pass through Thomas Centennial Park every year to attend one of our many festivals, like the European Market, Taste of Duneland, Hooked on Art, and Hometown Holiday Celebration. And if you had to use a bathroom during your visit, you probably noticed the state of our current facilities.Port-o-potties are currently used for this service, but they obviously lack the charm that this park and our downtown deserves.

The Chesterton Park Board plans to add a bit of history and charm to historic Thomas Centennial Park by converting a 50-foot railroad boxcar to a men's and women's restroom facility.  A 1950's caboose will add even more charm to the project and will serve as a cooling/warming station and activity car.  Both cars will be situated adjacent to the historic train depot's porte-cochere, adding to the locomotive-ambiance of the park.

We're excited to add this charming and functional piece of history to Thomas Centennial Park, but we need YOUR SUPPORT to make it happen!
